I Need a Makeover. Or a Wig.

I want to change my hair. Like RIGHT.NOW. I want bangs. To be more precise, I want hair like this:

Keep in mind, my hair isn't nearly this long. Or straight. Or colorful. And I guess if we're going to be nit-picky here, I'm not a Caucasian waif.

So if we take into account my stats instead, getting bangs will probably look a lot closer to this:

When it comes to my hair, I have a hard time NOT being impulsive. When I was younger, I used to cut my own hair all the time- bangs, front, back, everything. Now that I'm older and my looks are quickly going down the drain, I'm a little more cautious about sabotaging myself.

It's taking everything in me to not go into the utility drawer, get the scissors, stick my head under the bathroom sink, and cut them right now.

I've been growing my bangs out for a year because I had high hopes that long, sleek hair would make my face look thinner. Unfortunately, that hasn't really happened. In fact, unless I put a shit ton of time into drying/straightening/curling my hair, it just looks like I have a dirty, dowdy, frizzy, shitty mop on my head. And on any given day, I look like I've spent hours chasing after wild children at the local Chuck E. Cheese. Which is exactly where I draw the line when it comes to my hair.

Do you think I should get bangs? Or stick it out with the long hair?

If you need a refresher on my current hair state, just refer to my Christmas post. HOWEVER- keep in mind, that WAS the holiest day of the year and Baby Jesus visited my hair that day with a Christmas miracle, making it turn out especially healthy and darling.

Either way, I have a hair appointment this weekend. Fingers crossed.

I just got my hair cut for the first time in a year. I look slightly better than the Asian guy.

Good luck.

Thanks for commenting. I've had several visitors, all of whom (I bet) were thinking "I'm not touching that hair business with a ten foot pole."

Congratulations on your recent freedom. -From hair and other things. <3

I am way past 29 and let me tell you... I think I've had like 5 good hair days in my entire life. Like 5! So that said I have 0 advice for you because when it comes to hair, I suck at it. BUT, I am going to keep my fingers crossed for you and sending loads of good hair ju-ju your way.

I have the same exact problem and am actually trying to decide if I want bangs right now, too! Let's be besties!

Anyway, I vote for yes on the bangs, my reasons are two-fold: 1.) Hair will always grow back out, unless you're a barbie doll in which case, it definitely won't, as I found out from experience and 2.) Did I mention the bestie thing?

If it backfires, you could always pull a Lil' Kim and shave your head and do pink hair? Right? Not helpful?

I love bangs! The only people who I think should hesitate about bangs are those with really curly hair (ME). And even I am planning on cutting bangs again at some point - I just know there will be more maintenance involved so I'm nervous.

Also, I read (flipped through) a book at one point about looking young when you're getting on in years (which we clearly are!) and it said bangs are important for us old ladies because they hide our forehead wrinkles (which I've developed when I raise my eyebrows).

So, there's that.

Hey chicky...you would look great with bangs! The good thing is...they grow fast! You have great hair I don't know what you are talking about! By the way...the picture of the Asian is very similar to my first grade picture. Do it!!

as a dude, my advice on hair is probably, retarded at best. All I know is, I knows what I likes. Long, black and luscious usually does the trick. Meaning your Christmas hair seemed just fine. But if you crave bangs, more power to you. It all grows back anyways.

I'd be very careful with the bangs, if I were you. If you need proof of how bad it can get, you only need to look at me in that horrific family photo mom has hanging in the den downstairs. I wish she'd take that thing down.

I am sceptical of bangs. Once when I had them I basically had the Uma Thurman Pulp Fiction cut without being, you know, Uma Thurman. Do not recommend.

Then another time I had bangs and I looked...it's indescribable really. Of course, I have fairly curly hair, so bangs have to be cut thick to not be curly and then...you know, bowl cuts ahoy.

I think bangs would be cute on you. But if you hate them, don't blame me.

One time I went to get me hair cut at a new place, told the hairdresser I didn't care what he did as long as he didn't give me bangs. So he gave me bangs. I left in tears.

If you actually want bangs, you should get them. If they are horrible, it'll only be a few weeks before they start growing out, and if you like them...then you win right away!

I cannot be objective. I currently have a post about whether or not to cut my hair because I too am growing out my bangs. I have an appointment for next Friday, but I also need someone to talk me out of it. I say we see who can last the longest. Before we know it, we'll have long flowing locks like the chick with the hair extensions in the pic you posted!

I vote for bangs. But keep in mind that I have been butchering my own hair for years. Bangs are cute. I don't have bangs. Maybe I should.
