Green Beans with Bacon.

I'm sure you all will agree with me when I say that pretty much everything tastes better with bacon. Which is why Boyfriend decided to try out this recipe for green beans with bacon. Only he kind of made it his own by omitting half of the ingredients. We work with what we have, okay.

Our Version of Green Beans with Smoked Bacon

INGREDIENTS:
-Green beans
-Bacon, cut into half inch pieces
-Olive oil
-Salt

DIRECTIONS:
If you've never made green beans before, let me tell you, they're pretty foolproof. Just rinse, snip the ends off, and boil in heavily salted water (with a little olive oil for taste) until tender- approx 3 minutes. Transfer beans to a bowl of ice water to "shock" the hell out of 'em and prevent them from getting mushy. Drain and set aside. Fry up your bacon until it's just about to your liking, but not quite. Drain the grease. Add green beans to the bacon and saute until everything is cooked the way you want it.

I'm sure this recipe will work just as well if you substitute turkey bacon, or even tofu bacon.

And by "I'm sure", I really mean I have no idea because I've never tried it.

Do you have any green beans recipes you'd like to share?

Boner'ppetite!

It's funny because I like most vegetables, and lord knows I lurve me some bacon, but I don't do green beans. Never have liked them. So I'll just sub in some asparagi or brussesls sprouts.

I like the period use in this title. The word bacon should always be at the end of a sentence.

SWEETEST - you're the first person i've met who's said they don't like green beans. i've always thought of it as a pretty neutral vegetable.

SIRI - pretty much half of my vocabulary starts and ends with the word "bacon".

MRANTHROPE - have you ever tried bacon with something sweet? and i'm not talking maple syrup. i've seen a few shows on Food Network and The Cooking Channel talking about mixing sweet with savory- like bacon in donuts and ice cream. that confuses my mouth and i'm not sure i'd be able to do it.

SIMONE - i love the green beans/ almond combo too. if you're in a pinch (see: lazy) BirdsEye makes a pretty good frozen option. just boil the bag or throw it in the microwave.

TSARITSA - i usually don't think of green beans in soups, but you're right- they're in minestrone and vegetable and i never even realized it. green beans are so versatile.

NIKO - i LOVE broccoli. i mean, like seriously love it. but i never even thought to make it this way. i usually either just steam it or saute it in a pan with butter and soy sauce. MmMmmMmmmmm.
