Songs That I May or May Not Be Embarrassed to Like.

Everyone has a list songs that they're either embarrassed to like or should be embarrassed to like. Don't play dumb with me, you know what I'm talking about. You're blasting it at 45 million decibels, singing at the top of your lungs while driving on the freeway. But the second you pull into a parking lot, where people are walking dangerously close to your car and are clearly within audible range, that shit gets turned down to a whisper.

This may or may not be my list. (It is.)

November Rain - Guns N Roses

Move It, Move It - Reel 2 Real

Nookie - Limp Bizkit

I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred

Sweat - Inner Circle

Ca Plane Pour Moi - Plastic Bertrand (Damn you, National Lampoon's European Vacation)

I'm Still Standing - Elton John

Party Train - Gap Band

You're the Best - Joe Esposito (Is it me, or is that last Cobra a babe?)

Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush

Anything by Digital Underground, like...
This.
This.
And This.

Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley (PS: You just got Rick-Rolled!!! Don't you look silly!) (But seriously, I really do like this song.)

What are your songs? And don't say you don't have any, because God hates liars.

  5. Ohhh....I have a lot of songs that are "embarrassing"! My mind just went bland though....damn pregnancy brain!
I do crank up the 80s channel daily and sing at the top of my lungs to baby to be!

  6. Oh, man . . . November Rain is nothing to be ashamed of. How about:

Since U Been Gone - Ms. Clarkson

    Slide - Goo Goo Dolls

That one song by Third Eye Blind

    Every fucking Garth Brooks song

Every Little Step I Take - B. Brown

some MIGHT people think my never ending love for Skid Row (ESPECIALLY SLAVE TO THE GRIND) would be something to hide.

    hmmmm . . . i'm sure there's more.

OH! Definitely that Baby song by young Bieber.

Hopefully you won't block me from blog stalking you for any of these admissions.

    Keep up the great writing!

  7. MEGS- i was on the fence on whether or not i should include include Jump Around on my list. since it's a must have at any respectable frat party, i figured it still falls in the "totally acceptable" range.

LIZ- i'm with you on Groove is in the Heart, i just forgot to to include it. but i know you owned both The Go-Go's AND Oingo Boingo records (and actually i currently own the best of oingo boingo), which means you can't be TOO embarrassed of it.

JERROD- Panama?!?!?!!?!? i can't even condone this falling into the "embarrassed of" category because it's probably just the best song ever created. so much so that boyfriend and i are considering getting our next tattoos in the shape of panama.

TANYA- i know. digital underground walks a fine line between party-must-have and crowd-killer, depending on who you're with. but in my heart, it's always got two thumbs up.

ALICIA- i'm a big fan of 80's, so i'm not sure how much of that i would classify as embarrassing. but just because i don't class it as embarrassing, doesn't mean it isn't.

ERIC- thanks for putting my favorite bobby brown song in my head. i think tonight i'm going to celebrate this joyous occassion by wearing my lucky white suit and cutting my flat-top into a side angled slope.

  8. Umm party train is never embarrassing! Ok maybe the video is embarrassing...

Some of embarrassing songs that I love:

The flame by cheap trick - stop laughing - me & Jason have sang this as a duet = amazing.

Ms. New booty by bubba sparks - again stop laughing - I leave the song on my sisters voicemail but then end up singing the entire song in my car.

I know there is more but my brain isn't working right now.

  9. The entire Immaculate Collection by Madonna. I can rock all those songs.

Especially Papa Don't Preach. And there is nothing cuter than a woman in her 50s pleading with her daddy to not judge her. Ha!

  11. I happen to like "I'm Too Sexy" and "Nookie." I'll blast that shit and be proud of it.
I also like the Spice Girls ...
And Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair."

    I hate myself.

  13. Interesting song choices!
U be so eclectic and stuff!

I cannot support Limp Bizkit but I do commend you on honestly admitting that you like Nookie.
I do however support your love of Kate Bush, Elton John, RSF and Reel 2 real.

Thanks for keeping it real missy. We all have songs that are ridic but we love. I won't admit to mine though...

  14. Ummm ... I'm supposed to be embarrassed about liking November Rain? *frantically starts burning Guns N Roses t-shirt* Right, right, what lame-o would like THAT sing? Am I right? *nervous laughter.*

  15. While listening to wuthering heights, try interpreted dance! Its a must!

  16. Holy cow there are so many.

I still listen to Limp Bizkit's first two albums. In their entirety.

And Megs-Paperboy's "Ditty"? You are beyond awesome.

  17. Except for Right Said Fred, that's the worst collection of lame songs I've ever seen.

    Here's mine:
    Toxic by Brittney Spears
I Think I Love You by the Partridge Family
    All the music from Pocohontas
Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson
    Superstar by the Carpenters

  18. CHRYSTAL - Party Train is only NOT embarrassing if you're from the towns we're from.

DEBS - Get Into the Groove always makes me want to dry my armpits with an upside down hand dryer in a public restroom.

ASHLEY - admitting you're powerless against the Nookie is the first step.

BONNIE - i was thiiiis close to including a Spice Girls song, but decided against it. also, i just googled Whip My Hair and now i feel like i just had a stroke.

JERROD - every song by van halen (circa david lee roth) is completely exempt from falling into the "embarrassing" category.

NIKO - i think everyone with kids has a newfound love for Real2Reel thanks to the movie Madagascar. unfortunately, i don't have kids. i just love the song.

VERONICA - November Rain was one of those that i was on the fence about (like digital underground). sometimes it's so bad, it's good. and other times it's just uncalled for.

RDOBBS - interpretive dance and kate bush go together like peanut butter and jelly. good call.

HED - limp bizkit had a second album...?

SUSAN - i should have included toxic on my list. but i was afraid i would want to unfollow my own blog.
